Does my business need a website, or is Instagram enough?
Short answer
They do different jobs. Instagram introduces you; a website makes you findable. Someone searching “hairdresser Burdur” on Google sees websites, not Instagram posts. A social account can also be closed or have its rules changed overnight, while your own site cannot. For most businesses the answer is both: the site is your fixed address, Instagram is your shop window.

Why is Instagram not enough on its own?
To be found on Instagram, people already have to know you exist — they search your handle or see a tag. New customers usually search without knowing you: “car service Burdur”, “dental clinic Burdur”. Instagram posts do not appear in those results. There is also the control problem: an account can be closed, rules change, and a post may not reach even half of your followers.
What does a website do?
A website is where someone who does not know you finds you. They search, see you in the results, click, and learn within seconds what you do, where you are and how to reach you. It is also your fixed address — printed on cards, signage, invoices and vehicles, unchanged for years, with no account closures or rule changes. Paired with a Google Business Profile, you appear on the map and in the organic results at the same time.
Which businesses need a site?
Any business whose customers find it through search needs one: clinics, car services, estate agents, lawyers, architects, plumbers, hotels, hairdressers, vets, accountants. Where the work is purely visual and customers come from the neighbourhood — handmade jewellery, home baking, small boutiques — Instagram can carry you for a while. The test is simple: ask this month's customers how they found you. If Google comes up, you need a site.
How do you use both together?
Split the work: the site holds what stays the same, Instagram carries what changes. Services, price ranges, opening hours, location, contact details and frequently asked questions live on the site. Daily posts, promotions and photos of recent work go on Instagram. Put the site address in your Instagram bio and the Instagram link on the site, so visitors from either direction find what they came for.
My budget is tight — which comes first?
With a tight budget the order is: the Google Business Profile first, because it is free and puts you on the map. Then a brochure site, which starts at 10,000 TL with the first year of domain and hosting included and typically goes live within a week. Instagram is free, so it runs alongside rather than in the queue. Only after those three is paid advertising worth considering — sending paid traffic to no proper address wastes the money.
